Edge not faster than IE 11

Edge is not any faster than IE 11 on my laptop with SSD.

Google Chrome has it by a mile!
Even Firefox beats it hands down.

The fact that Edge will not likely have any extensions to test by July 29 is a huge deception.
After all, people who have computers live in their browsers!
So, what kind of browser is Edge supposed to be?

    :)

  2. Build 10525 Install Failed

Interesting, I have found build 10532 to be both stable and noticeable faster than the RTM release. As I don't use an Ad blocker, I have found Edge to be both stable and much faster than IE 11. Maybe just differences in hardware and personal preferences.

  3. IE 11 Sluggish

I'm using Windows 10 on my desktop and I have noticed that IE 11 slower than both edge and chrome but not uncomfortably so. I know that edge is using a new web engine which is basically WebKit rather than the old Trident web engine still used in IE 11.
So naturally, it will be quite a bit faster. Another difference is, as Chase noted, many features are shaved off in a edge with the result that edge is running a lot less extraneous code (for example extensions and Java.) If you haven't already, I would go
into the settings on Internet Explorer and check how many extensions you are running. Additionally, you could do a web search and see if anyone has found some ways to optimize the user agent string in IE 11 for speed. Unfortunately, both of these options probably
will not do much unless you are running an unusually large number of extensions in IE 11 that you don't need.

Without extensions and add-ons, there is no weight to drag. Edge will of course be faster and use less resources.

    You should try Waterfox:
Waterfox - The fastest 64-Bit browser on the web

... as it's a direct 64 bit port of Firefox.

Two things I quite like of Firefox/Waterfox are sharing of profiles and AdBlock Plus. I dislike adverts.

Will Edge have something similar to AdBlock Plus?

I prefer Cyberfox. It does not share it's profile with Firefox.

Point is, even without clearing cache, both FF and Chrome are faster than IE.
Don't use IE for lack of extensions, so don't have to clear cache there.

The cache saves pages locally for faster loading, chrome will load slower after cache is cleared
