Windows 10: Edges' Top Sites won't stick!

Monday morning (5/15/2017), after MS updated prior to shutdown, my computer would not boot up come morning. I could only access boot options via F12 (long story) did a restore via back-up stored on an external Hdd. After got back up & running, the Top Sites icons in Edge browser had changed, only one that I had previously had was for Face Book. I changed them back to before the update, but only one (FB) remained as before. Closing Edge & reopening it all the other icons were back as before. The screen below may explain my dilemma. I’m thinking it has something to do with the updates.
I’ve spent 2 whole days trying different things & a dozen or so from Google searches, but to no avail. I had this issue with the top sites when I 1st upgraded to 10 from 7 last July. I found the top sites very handy for my purposes as I only visit maybe a dozen sites.

Top Sites Edge.

On my Favourites Bar, I have sites (like a family tree site) that I have to log into, and when I click a site, It opens and I`m already logged in.

BEFORE updating to Anniversary Update, when Top Sites appeared on Edge and I clicked them I was (like clicking the Favourites Bar) already logged in. This saves a lot of time.

Now, since the Anniversary Update when I click Top Sites, I have to log into everything. It is faster for me to just go back to the Favourites
Bar.

Even copying the URL of a logged in site, and then adding it as a new Top Sites doesn`t work. It still requires a log in.

Does anyone know how to fix this, as security isn`t a problem with most of my sites. With critical ones like Banks it is absolutely necessary to log in, and even My Favourites Bar still requires a log in for critical websites like these.

 

Edge Top Sites

Hello. An observation on Edge. The top sites function in Edge should offer a much faster route to frequently used sites than the traditional favourites list. Unfortunately it is rubbish for a number of reasons. Firstly, it isn't possible to drag URLs from
the address bar when adding a site. It isn't even possible to copy and paste a URL. Secondly, customised top sites are lost when clearing history, replaced with the usual Microsoft product placement that doesn't reflect my preferences (Daily hateMail - really?),
with the added insult of the difficulty in replacing because of the lack of a drag and drop or copy and paste function. Two reasons why I continue to use Firefox. Comments?

 

With my new refurbed Dell got the top sites figured out & working great. At first didn't like Edge, but have since changed my mind. Getting to know the new browser took some time; now comfortable with it.
