  1. Empty Partition on C: drive

Hello, a little while ago i tried to install a linux distribution on my Laptop.

Unfortunately, i wasnt able to create a new primary partition because there were alredy four partitions.

I wonder if i can delete a partition which is completely empty and does not have any Drive letters.

However it does not seem to show up in diskmgmt.msc, but there is some umallocated space which does not merge

with other unallocated space. What exactly is this partition if it is even a one and can you safely remove it?

I have provided some screenshots below. I am using AOMEI Partition Assistent Standard Edition version 8.8

and as for my laptop and windows version i`ve provided a screenshot.

    Thank you in advance,

    Sebastian.

    W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

    - press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
    - diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
    - list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
    - select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
    - clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
    - create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
    - exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
    - click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

    Empty Partition on C: drive

    Unallocated Space to C Drive

    Hi Travis,

It appears that a disk partition was created but was never assigned its allocation. Assuming there are no files stored in the unallocated partition, perform these steps to combine it with your C: drive:

    • In Disk Management, right-click on (CEmpty Partition on C: drive :) which appears next to the
      Unallocated partition.
    • Select Extend.

Let us know if you're able to combine the spaces after following the steps above.

    Regards.
