Windows 10: Enable Hey Cortana

Dear Community


I just purchased a new Lenovo laptop with Windows 10. Updated as below. I am based in India where Cortana is supposed to work.


Edition: Windows 10 Home

Version: 20H2

Installed on: 22nd Oct, 2020

OS build: 19042.572


I am unable to get "Hey Cortana" activated at any cost. I can use the app and speak into it by pressing the microphone but there is no way I can figure to get "Hey Cortana" activated. I am unable to find cortana settings which a lot of websites said I would on the search type bar.


I have set the following in my region, language, speech.

Region: India

Regional format: [English India]

Language: English India

Preferred languages: English India

Speech language: English India

Installed voice package: English India


Is this just me? Am I missing something? Or has 'Hey Cortana' support not been extended to India yet even in this OS build?

How to enable Hey Cortana on Android

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



By default, Hey Cortana feature is turned off unless you activate it. Kindly follow the steps below to enable the feature.

• Launch the Cortana app on your Android device.
  
• Click on the Menu.
  
• Click on Hey Cortana.
  
• Toggle the switch to position On for
  From the Cortana app.
  
  
  

The Hey Cortana feature will not work when the phone is in standby mode, however you can follow the steps mentioned in the article below to enable Cortana on lock screen.

Hey cortana enabling switch is missing

Hi Donald,

You may find the Hey Cortana setting by following the steps below:

• Select the search box in the task bar.
• Select Notebook > Settings.
• Under Hey Cortana, switch the toggle to On.

Note: Cortana is only available in certain countries/region and some Cortana features might not be available everywhere.

how to enable "Hey Cortana" on my lumia 1520

Hi all,

I've Mu lumia 1520 with windows mobile 10 installed on it.

does any one help me how to enable "Hey cortana" feature on it?

i've tried all the steps like

- go to cortana settings > enable "hey cortana"

but i didn't find this kind of options

does it supports only lumia 950 ?

or some particular language?

help needed
