Windows 10: Enabled Onedrive Folder Protection and desktop files got deletede

I have a very strange issue. Somehow in the middle of it all when i enabled the folder protection option for desktop, pictures and document did something show got wrong and it somehow only got some of the folders. But all my local files just went missing and now i'm worried that they are gone forever and i can't seem to find an .old folder or something with the files in it.


Is there a place where i can get the file back, since i can't see them in onedrive online, since they were never uploaded

OneDrive Protect Files Feature

Recently activated the new protect files feature to protect desktop, documents, & pictures. Now having issues using the Quicken desktop app. As soon as the app opens, OneDrive starts & indicates it's updating files. When I finish using the app, it updates
a couple of files including a backup copy to an external drive, and then attempts to close the app. Then I get 3 Quicken errors which basically state the app is unable to finish updating files & close because OneDrive is still using the files. At this point,
the app closes indicating changes not made. Seems to me that OneDrive is attempting to update files while still in use. As a workaround, before I open the app, I pause OneDrive syncing, open the app, complete my work, close the app, then turn on OneDrive syncing.
I suggest that OneDrive syncing shouldn't start until all files are closed, not while they are being updated.

Check the complete list on the Everything tab, it may not be explorer extension listed on that tab.

It may be something stupidly simple like onedrive/skydrive being setup to sync folders that are being dumped remotely.
