    Encryption key? Encryption File System? What is this all about?

    This morning for the first time I have a little icon in the lower right of the bar at the bottom of my screen that says, "Encrypting File System - Back up your file encryption key." I didn't even know I had an Encrypting File System. Can anyone tell me
    what is going on?

    Encryption File System

    EFS is a part of Windows 10 but only in the Pro edition and higher. If you have such an edition the option will be in the file and folder properties.
