    Thanks for the excellent review of "Refreshing" Win10. I've read through all of the posts in this thread hoping to find something that related to my own specific problem ... but no joy.

    Three days ago my laptop refused to boot up properly, opting instead to go into the endless loop of "Preparing Automatic Repair ... Attempting Repairs ... Diagnosing PC".

    I've been on several sites where fixes have been discussed, but none have worked for me. I've tried to use my Repair/Boot Disk that I made via Glary Utilities ... but nothing happens. Likewise, loading a System Restore Point has no effect.

    It now looks like I have no choice but to Refresh Windows - which would take me back from v1803 to v1607. I have no great problem there, but have a feeling that after doing that I'm still going to find myself in the "Preparing Automatic Repair ... " loop.

    Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

    Preparing automatic repair appears when something goes wrong with your PC and the system attempts to resolve it by itself. Upon checking the Community, we have found a related thread which includes a suggestion that can resolve your issue.
    You can refer to this
    link     and check out the response of Sudharshan M K, one of our forum moderators. From there, you can follow the steps to
    perform start up repair from Windows Recovery Environment.

    Get back to us should you need additional assistance.

    Preparing Automatic Repair loop

    1) I created a USB boot disk via the Media Create Tool.

    2) Powered on with that drive and it was indeed selected as boot. It blinked during startup but again went into loop. Similar to "Preparing Automatic Repair" loop except no such words. The loop now consists of just the Dell splash screen and a half circle
    of dots below. Repeats forever.

    Have I missed something or done something incorrectly? Any other suggestions?
