  1. Enough is enough!

After a year of trying to get Win 10 running like I want, I've finally decided to take a break until Windows 10 is fixed. After untold hours trying to correct the number lock problem using all the suggestions out there, enough is enough! And I won't even mention the tin-can sounding Dell/MS audio problem! Both Dell and Windows are blaming each other but neither have come up with a solution that actually works, and I haven't found an audio card that appears to work properly!
I plan on occasionally booting to the Win 10 HD to keep it updated until Win 10 is fixed.

My question is: Can I simply disconnect the Windows 10 HD, install another HD and load a new Windows 7 OS on it? Is there anything else I should do before changing back to Win7? I have almost no personal data on Win10 because of Window 10's lifting personal data and selling it to marketers. I know, I know! 'They don't do that!'

Would this simple HD/OS switch work on a Win10 PC considering the new CPU chip changes?

    Thanks

    :)

  2. How to really take control of automatic updates in Windows 10

I am no longer looking for support on this site - I spent the past few days scrolling through numerous pages on this site to try to understand how it functions and I have learned there is little support here and a lot of nonsense - it is like a tech version
of facebook - but I do believe in karma and my dear srfreeman, I do hope that you never have a loved one fall victim to a life threatening disease and find the doctors who may save them require that before they will help you and your loved one, you must obtain
a doctorate in the field of specialty that is threatening to take your loved one - for they refuse to do their job of simplifying the possible cures to a level that a non-doctor can understand and instead require you to come up to their level.

You seem to believe your smug arrogance shows your dedication to Microsoft - reality check, not from a techie but from a specialist in business - the customer will find a solution... through another operating system. It would do you and Microsoft well to
know your customer base - it is not all techie millennials - actually the vast majority are pc users trying to simply do what they need to get done - and they are smarter than you think - they will find the solution through another system if Microsoft does
not want to hear their needs. And history has the data to show that ignoring the needs of your customer is the quickest path to your demise, regardless of your size.

For the others truly looking for support, I wish you well in your search. One lawsuit against Microsoft has been won in Seattle in 2016. There are currently two class action lawsuits I am aware of - one in Florida and one in Illinois. Additionally, several
Attorney Generals are looking into the situation on behalf of the customers in their states.

Simple and stupid truly are relative... did you simply misread the original post. Are you truly saying I have complete control of update and can completely stop them?

    Yes.

Check for Windows 7 drivers for your hardware.

Yes, but might have to disable secure booting in bios.

  5. Windows 10 isn't broken, as the vast majority of people who are using it have no issues. If Windows 10 was the issue, everyone would be experiencing the same issue.

Now that we can get passed that, what is this "num lock" problem you are having?

  6. Google 'windows 10 problems' and read 53,400,000 hits and tell me Windows 10 isn't broken!

Google 'windows 10 numbers lock' and read 24,300,000 hits of which I have tried the major three major suggestions (two regedits and a bios setting) which DO NOT WORK ON MY PC!

Now tell me once again how Windows 10 isn't broken for those of us who use our PCs for something except games and actually have lives outside of worshiping Windows 10! I started out programming computers by using flip switches and have used every version of MS windows except Vista up to Win10, so I have an idea of what an OS should do without all the agony.

First, Google's hit count is an estimate, it's not even close to reality most of the time. Further, many of those hits are duplicates, multiple messages in the same threads, etc...

Umm.. googling that doesn't bring up anything that looks like a major issue to me.

It's not broken. If you are really someone that understands how software works, then you know as much as anyone that if most people aren't seeing the problem you have, then that means it's something unique to your situation.

Also.. Agony? Really? Your numlock key won't automatically turn on when you boot and that's agony?

Looks to me like Windows 7 is more broken than Windows 10

First, you made a mistake, you used the wrong quote brackets... use these for google "like so".

Secondly, only 90,900 results show atm for "windows 10 problems"

While "windows 7 problems" shows 90,400, so it's about even.

Despite the fact that you CAN actually install the old games on Windows 10.

I would not use Windows 7 drivers on Windows 10. Aren't they different enough to cause issues?

To @frostburg49 did you install all the updates like the November update?

  12. I do have a life, so I don't have the time to explain what is so very wrong with your statement. Okay, maybe I will. Google "aliens exist". Does that hit count mean they really do for sure?? Do people post problems on the Internet when everything is working fine? Common sense, man...just plain common sense.

Moving along, do you really think that insulting people is the best way to get their help?

I've installed Windows 10 on 30 of our 120 client machines and haven't had a single issue to date with any of them. We're a fast-paced, fast-growing tech company. We do FAR more than just check e-mail. Windows 10 works perfectly fine for us, so are you really going to tell me it's broken because YOU can't get it working on your computer??? It I crash my A4 in to a tree, can I accurately claim that all Audis are broken??? Common sense, man...just plain common sense.

Now, I'd love to help and prove to you that your isolated incident doesn't mean Windows 10 is broken, but you've chosen to be condescending rather than take a very small piece of your time to explain what is going on.

Off-topic: I use Windows 8 drivers on Windows 10... And the drivers are for a simalar but different PC. I bet Windows 7 drivers would work.

  15. You can disable "Fast-Startup" and that should make it so you dual boot from Windows 10 from 7. But it very easy to disconnect and attach another hdd. Very simple.
