Windows 10: Entire Wuaserv (Windows Update) File Missing from Registry/ Missing From Services/ Missing...

Now, this has been a bit of a pain in my ass. I've had this issue for quite some time now (a few months, to be exact) and am now unsure of what to do after doing the following:

- DISM checks

- SFC/ scannow

- Windows Update Troubleshooter

- Running BITS

- A Full-On System Repair

- Many Similar Things (etc)


I'll try to keep it quick; I got a virus which I believed had deleted many essential .dll files involved in certain Windows XP packages. I have tried alot in terms of trying to fix this issue, but have done so to no avail. I am now at the point of considering backing-up my files and doing a clean reinstallation of Windows 10. However, just because I don't want to go through that hassle, I want to see if someone has any suggestions for me, as I am still up for trying new things. Help would be greatly appreciated.


Also, for those that're wondering, trying to update Windows produces the error message "(0x80070424)."

Missing Services

Hi,

I just ran a program called Rkill to "kill" any instances of malware running on my system. It didn't find any malware and after it scanned, it left a log file on my desktop labeled Rkill. I didn't know what some of the missing services were so I googled
one and ended up reading your issue. The missing services were exactly the same as mine. Here, this is what my logfile said.

Socket Registry Missing, Service Registration Corrupt or Missing

After running Windows Update Troubleshooter, the following appears:

Service registrations are corrupt or missing

and after running Internet Connection Troubleshooter, the following appears:

Socket Registries are missing

Have already followed each method in the following (including a Windows Reset and the numerous command line fixes):

windows socket registry entries missing according to diagnostics and internet no longer working at all

Windows 10 Service Registration is Missing or Corrupt

Build: Windows 10 Build 10586.164

Symptoms:

Lack of internet connectivity

Download speed throttling

inability to download updates

The services re-corrupt and the keys are still missing. I'm currently chatting with Norton, but this seems like it could just as easily be an internal Windows issue. Haven't ruled out hardware either, but if it's a drive failure...how would I even be able
to boot Windows?

Looking for some help/guidance. Thank you.
