Windows 10: Epson 2450 stopped working

This used to work under Windows 10 by following the guidance in an older question Cannot find W10 driver for an old Epson 2450 and using the driver for a different Epson scanner.A few weeks ago, it stopped working -- as in none of the programs requiring the driver would recognize the scanner. The Epson Scan utility => "could not be started" error message. And other scanning programs gave similar results.I've tried re-installing the driver with no good results.I can get it to work using a program called VueScan from Hamrick but this is not really satisfactory as it doesn't integrate well

Did our Epson printer get hacked?

Another question, is this on a home network or a work network? The steps @eidairaman1 listed are always a good first step. If this is on a work network you manage, I'd be much more concerned than the home one. It is possible someone is screwing with you, but malware could also be the culprit.
