Windows 10: Epson L382 Printer Installation Fails

Hi ,



I am running windows 10 Home edition - 64 bit.


I have Epson L382 USB Printer and which was working earlier. Lasts week I have re image the windows and now I canot install the driver any more.


When I connect printer in any USB port, it shows under Devices and Printers. Same way Printers and Scanners. It shows Driver Unavailable.


I Tried to install driver manually it fails. When I try add printer it gives error


"printer driver was not installed the remote procedure call failed".


Some of the Microsoft article suggest to check print pool services, which did not see any issue. Then check below location, it shows blank


C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERSC:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS



Finally run test based on

The result of printer troubleshoot was showing no physical printer installed. Rest all was ok.

Are you located in Europe? I found a support page for the L382 on their European site at

https://www.epson.eu/products/printers/inkjet-printers/for-home/l382#drivers and if I go to Support | Drivers and Software it auto-detects my 32-bit Vista SP2 OS and appears to offer Vista-compatible drivers. If you scroll to the bottom of that page there
is a Contact Us link for Epson's Customer Service, so you might want to send them an e-mail and ask them to confirm that they still offer Vista-compatible drivers for the L382.

epson printer driver not installing

My Epson R300 was detected automatically by W7, didn't need to install any extra drivers, W7 had them already (although that may be because its an old printer, depends how new yours is). I'd try removing the epson software, plugging in the printer and uninstall through Device Manager (selecting remove software). Reboot and see if its useable then.
