Windows 10: Error 0x80004005 when moving folder

I'm getting Error 0x80004005 whenever I try to move a folder or a zipped folder. I can move individual files just fine. Windows 10 is up-to-date, and I've made sure that all users have Full Control over the folders in question. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

'error 0x80004005 unspecified error' when trying to move files


I am trying to move a folder with a bunch of image files in it off of my flash drive to the 'Documents' folder. Every time I try to do so, I get the following error: "error 0x80004005 unspecified error" Which Google only brings up results about unzipping files, there is nothing regarding moving files from one directory to another. I am getting this error when I try to move files.

I have looked over many other posts about this, all with the same error code, but with a different problem.

I have a computer thats a few years old, it has an ABIT kn8-sli motherboard, and its running off windows XP.

I was having problem with the hard drive before I gave up on it awhile back, and now I have come back and resolved that problem, but now when I get to the login screen and type in the password it says its in need of an update, then when it asks me if I want to update I click Yes, and then it says it won't work due to error 0x80004005.

The only operating system I have currently is windows 7. Do I need to go buy a new OS or is this recoverable?
