    This started a few days ago. when I tried to play a song I got an error message saying: 0x80004005. I had some programs I wanted to get rid of so I opted for a clean install. I re installed windows. and when I tried to play a song I got that error message. I tried to use YouTube and I can't watch any videos, it shows me an error. Tried to use Spotify, again I didn't work. Used troubleshoot and not luck finding any errors. any ideas on what can I do/

    Error 0x80004005

    I have looked over many other posts about this, all with the same error code, but with a different problem.

    I have a computer thats a few years old, it has an ABIT kn8-sli motherboard, and its running off windows XP.

    I was having problem with the hard drive before I gave up on it awhile back, and now I have come back and resolved that problem, but now when I get to the login screen and type in the password it says its in need of an update, then when it asks me if I want to update I click Yes, and then it says it won't work due to error 0x80004005.

    The only operating system I have currently is windows 7. Do I need to go buy a new OS or is this recoverable?
