Windows 10: error 0x80070002 when updating to version 1803

Running ver.1709 and received ver.1803 but it won't update.Have tried numerous times in the last three days but no go.Keep getting an error and says retry.Tried the stand alone but says not needed.Could use some help.

Error 0x80070bc2 during installation KB4074588

In my case I am trying to use the MSEdge Windows 10 Preview .vhdx. It is 17127.1 and seems to be trying to go directly to 1803.

Oops. I just had a second look at winver: Version 1803 (17127.1) Now I understand better why WU keeps saying it's preparing something else but not delivering. ; )

Otherwise I think the OP error code indicates that there will be something else to find in some of the other diagnostics...

The error code 0x80070002 are common errors relevant to Windows update. When you are working with your Windows PC and trying to install system updates, you might run into error code 0x80070002 or 0x80070003. The numeric error often appears with error messages
