Windows 10: Error 0x8007000d Trying to install latest updates KB5000802 and KB5000842

My Windows 10 PC keeps on failing to install two of the latest updates, both display the error


"Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: 0x8007000d"


I know there has been issues with KB5000802 so I've followed through the procedure of stopping the update services, clearing out the update files using command prompt and trying again but the error persists. Can anyone advise?

KB5000842 keeps failing with error code 0x8007000d

I'm on Windows 10 Pro 20H2 19042.868 and for the last couple of days, I've seen KB5000842 available for download and install but it keeps failing as seen below





I've tried running the Windows Update troubleshooter as well as sfc /scannow to no avail.

Anyone else seen this and found out how to fix it?

Hi, failure to upgrade- assuming that's what's happened- is not uncommon. It's a complex process.

If you research the error number- which can be useful- you may find

I suggest you try two simple steps initially and see if it helps.

1. Run the Window Update Troubleshooter (Settings, search for trouble)

2. If that doesn't help, try a tutorial from the Tutorial section here - take a moment to become familiar with this excellent resource:

When you try to upgrade again, please take the basic precautions recommended in this tutorial:
Upgrade to Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials
- uninstall any AV or security software
- disconnect any unnecessary peripherals
- try a clean boot if necessary

Make sure you have at least 25Gb free on your C: partition

You can do the upgrade manually- download the iso, mount it, view the new 'drive' in file explorer and run setup.exe

This means it's under your control and could save repeat downloads for reattempts.

Can't install updates or upgrade windows 10, error 0x8007000d

I can't seem to install any windows updates, and when I tried to upgrade my windows 10 version to the latest version, I keep getting the same error messages.
