  1. error 0x80070057 when trying to take a still image from video in media player

Hi, I am trying to take images from video footage without changing the image quality by screenshotting, there is an option of save photo from video in the edit section but when i click it, it comes up with this error 0x80070057

I am unsure of what to do to get my still images from these video files which are MOV files and range from 500MB-3GB. I thought also i could download a free media player app but am unsure of a reliable one.

If you know of any ways to get these stills or if you know of any apps or software that would be greatly appreciated

    :)

    windows media player

    Hi,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

What is the exact error message you get when you to try play files on Windows Media Player?

I suggest you to run both Windows Media Player Library and Settings troubleshooter and check.

Step 1: If your computer is having problems playing video or audio files in Windows Media Player, try using the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter to fix the problem. The troubleshooter checks the configuration and network settings
for Windows Media Player to make sure that you can play content you've downloaded and saved to your computer, or content streaming over a network or the Internet.

Steps to run Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter are as follows:

    • Press Windows key + X and select Control Panel.
    • In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click
      Troubleshooting.
    • Click View all, and then click Windows Media Player Settings
      and follow the instructions.

Step 2: If your computer is having problems accessing your collection of digital media files in the Windows Media Player Library, try using the Windows Media Player Library troubleshooter to fix the problem. The troubleshooter makes sure
Windows Media Player is correctly installed on your computer, and checks to see whether your Player Library is corrupted.

Steps to run Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter are as follows:

    • Press Windows key + X and select Control Panel.
    • In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click
      Troubleshooting.
    • Click View all, and then click Windows Media Player Library
      and follow the instructions.

Please reply us on the status of the issue to assist you further.

error 0x80070057 when trying to take a still image from video in media player

    Windows Media player

    Hi,

Invalid file format or incorrect video codec are some of the possibilities why some videos or audios are not playing on Windows Media Player. To isolate the root cause of the issue, kindly answer the following questions:

    • Which version of Windows Media Player are you using? (kindly click this
      link
to determine the version of it.)
    • Were you able to play the videos and audios using other player?
    • Did you receive any error messages when you try to play a specific video/file?
    • Can you send us a screenshot of it?

In the meantime, we suggest running the built-in troubleshooter on the Control Panel for us to identify the root cause of the issue and provide fix for it. Kindly follow the steps below:

    • Open Cortana and type Control Panel.
    • On the search bar, at the upper right corner, type Troubleshooting
      and click it.
    • Under Control Panel Home, choose View all.
    • Double-click the application and follow the instructions. (Do it on all Microsoft Media Player related category.)
