Windows 10: Error 0x800703e6 - is there actually a fix for this

Every time I attempt Windows Update, it rejects with error 0x800703e6. Checking my update history, I realized just yesterday that my computer hasn't installed an update successfully since February 2022. As part of my intensive googling on this subject, I went to see if I needed to uninstall an update, and discovered that my computer thinks it has 0 updates installed whatsoever. I don't know if one of the things I've tried has erased them, or what happened to them. I'm running Windows 10 Home 20H2 64-bit on an AMD Ryzen 9 3950X with a solid state C: drive.Some things I've tried:- Windows Tr

Windows Update Error 0x800703e6

Here is what the error code means:

0x800703e6

Invalid access to memory location.

Step 1:

Press: Windows key

Type: disk cleanup

run disk cleanup as Administrator

scan C drive

select "Windows update cleanup" checkbox

Hit OK to clean up drive

reboot system

try to update again

Step 2:

If previous step doesn't work

Press: Windows key

type: Settings hit enter

type: Trouble

select: "Troubleshoot settings"

Scroll down, in the list click on
"Windows update"

Let troubleshooter try to solve the problem.

reboot system

Try to update again

Step 3:

If previous steps doesn't work

Browse code samples

Download the script by clicking on a script name button, save to C:\ drive root

Right click on start button

select Powershell (Administrator)

Copy/paste bellow code into the console:

Hit Enter and wait for operation to complete

reboot system

try update again.

Step 4:

If previous steps do not work:

Windows Update Error Code 0x800703e6

I need help getting Windows Update to work.

My device is missing important security and quality fixes. "There were problems downloading some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this, try searching the web or contacting support for help. This error code might help: (0x800703e6)"

Already tried these steps:

1. Press Windows key + X

2. Click Command Prompt (Admin)

3. Type the following command:

rundll32.exe pnpclean.dll,RunDLL_PnpClean /DRIVERS /MAXCLEAN

4. Hit Enter on your keyboard

5. Exit command prompt

6. Restart

If you still can't update your Windows, Here are the steps to reset Windows Update components:

1. Use the Windows key + X to open the Power User menu and select Command Prompt (Admin).
   
2. Stop the BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service), Windows Update service, and Cryptographic service. Type the following commands and make sure to press Enter on each line:
   

net stop bits

net stop wuauserv

net stop appidsvc

net stop cryptsvc

3. Delete all the qmgr*.dat files created by BITS from your PC. Type the following command and press Enter:

Del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat"

4. Clear the Windows Update cache to allow Windows 10 re-download the updates, instead of using the files already downloaded on your system that might be damaged. Type the following commands and make sure to press Enter on each line:

rmdir %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution /S /Q

rmdir %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 /S /Q

Well, I will mention what appears to be happening. I do not have a fix but the comment in the Error message regarding access to memory is a little strange. Maybe this goes back to the TiWorker situation.

This error you can look at but I don't think it is causing the failure. Maybe Sumit will have some info.
