    Error 0x800f0985 when applying KB4530684 to fresh install of Windows 10 1909 x64


    Motherboard: Gigabyte H55M-UD2H from 2010


    I searched Google for any mention of this specific error when installing the 2019-12 Cumulative patch for Windows 10 1909 x64 and found nothing helpful.


    I purged the Software Distribution\Download folder and that made no difference.


    I ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter and it found no issues.


    I tried applying the update multiple times by Windows Update and by installing the patch manually and it failed every time in the same way.


    Two slightly newer machines with Asus P8H67M-LE motherboards from 2011 weren't affected by this error. However, the 2019-12 patch may have been applying before the 1909 feature update.


    Other patches to my Gigabyte machine install correctly.


    Has anyone experienced this error?

    Windows 10 update fails. (KB4530684)

    Hello, I have had this failure now for about a month, I am unable to install 2019-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4530684). It gives me the pending restart status and I restart, it goes to start back up, and says
    "Undoing changes" and restarts again. I have tried to use the update catalog to manually install it, and it says it is not compatable. I need a list of a lot of different things to do, as I have deleted everything in update cache and what not.
