Windows 10: Error 0xc000000e after cloning my boot drive.

I bought a new SSD 240 GB from Amazon and decided to migrate Windows 10 from HDD to SDD though the use of EaseUS. The clone was successful and thus I rebooted using the new boot drive and it worked, displaying the SSD as the c drive.


I wiped my old boot drive, the HDD, and then restarted my pc. Upon reboot I was prompt with the "Recovery Screen" with the error code 0xc000000e and 4 options. All 4 options dont

work. In BIOS it also recognises the new boot drive as a windows boot manager.


If there is a way to keep the data on the SSD, as I do not have a back up, instead of a clean instal l, please write an answer.


Motherboard: MSI b450m a pro max

OS: Windows 10 home 64 bit standard edition

Ssd: Crucial 240 GB

I have cloned the 2014 hdd from an ASUS laptop to the ssd using free aomei cloning software. I then installed the ssd into a 2017 Lenovo laptop. Windows will not run and I receive a blue recovery screen with error message "Error code: 0xc000000e". This hard
drive is dual booted with Linux Mint using the grub menu. Of course Linux Mint works flawlessly. How do I get Windows 10 to work using the ssd in the 2017 machine?

I've bought a lenovo y520-15IKBN, I want to clone the windows 10 system I had on my previous PC (dell vostro 1520) on my new ssd.

i switched SATA controler mode to AHCI because i couldn't see my ssd on lenovo PC.

I made a clone using Aomei backupper pro of my dell.

I installed it on my hdd using aomei.

booted on my hdd partition, cloned the hdd system on my ssd.

I now get 0xc000000e error on each booting on hdd and ssd.

and bootrec /rebuildbcd doesn't make it !

HELP ME PLEASE !! this is driving me MAD !

I understand that you are facing issues while booting Windows after cloning hard drive from an older PC.



As you have mentioned that, you have dual boot setup on the new PC, and Linux is booting fine but Windows is giving error. The new PC will not boot Windows, because Grub is not configured with Windows.



I suggest you to post your query on
TechNet forums, where they provide dedicated support for issues related to booting Windows on Cloned hard drives.
