Windows 10: Error 0xc0000098 when trying to install windows 10 64 bit on a laptop that has windows 7...

(windows 7 32 bit) i set DVD Driver priority to 1 in BIOS, i get windows 10 Logo for a moment then the blue screen "recovery" and i find it odd, someone suggested i change the year in my bios i did so by desperation but nothing changed, same error.

ATITool in windows 7 64-bit?

I don't know if this is the correct place, but it looks right, so.. we'll see.

I'm using windows 7 64-bit, and i've attempted to install the latest version of ATITool, version 0.26 and i got the warning while installing to accept or deny the 64-bit driver, i clicked yes, install it, then attempted to load ATITool and it comes up with "Kernel mode driver is not loaded"

Under device manager, the "ATITool Driver" has a /!\ by it, and properties page comes up with:

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)


Regardless, ATITool appears to not let us control our video cards under 7 64-bit.

Can someone please reply as to how to get this to work? And yes, before you suggest it, I have rebooted, hit F8, and told it to "Disable driver signature enforcement" and it still will not load correctly.

My version of windows: Build 7229.winmain.090604-1901

I know 7 isn't mainstream yet, and my version is only RC2, but I think now would be a good time to address these issues before 7 is more common in a few months.


Additionally, can anyone else on these forums suggest a video card tool that will allow me direct control of the clock speeds for an nVidia GTs-250 under windows 7 64-bit? Rivatuner has nothing either *Frown

 

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

 

Betas won't install on Windows 7 64 bit

I have a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I'm trying to install Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 and Microsoft Office 2010 Beta. Neither of them installs:
Visual Studio fails with error 1603 while trying to install .Net Framework 4 Beta 2.
Office fails with error 1719. (Service cannot be accessed)
I also cannot install iTunes 64 bit (or 32 bit) and the windows 7 SDK's are stuck in permanent install/uninstall hell, but those can wait. I mainly want the betas to work.
I already tried unreg/regserver of msiexec to try to fix the 1719 error, both in safe mode and not, it didn't work. I also verified the path to the service in my registry, and made sure the service starts automatically. I've spent a long long time trying to fix this by doing my own research so I'm hoping I can find some help here because I haven't found a solution yet.
If there are any logs or anything I need to include please tell me what and how to access them as I am not as experienced as I'd like to be with logging.
