Windows 10: Error: 0xC1900101 - 0x30018 - the installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error...

Trying to update Windows 10 home to version 20H2. I have tried six times always with the same error.


I've tried just reinstalling windows through an iso file and choosing not to lose files, apps, setting, but I get the same error.


The current version of Windows is Version 1909 OS Build 18363.1440


If this is a driver issue, I need to be told what specific driver needs to be updated. If there is any log files you wish to review, please let me know.

Error "0xC1900101 - 0x30018 - Error in the installation in the phase FIRST_BOOT with an error during the operation SYSPREP

During multiple attempts at installing windows 10 upgrade from win 8.1, the process freezes at 32% total installation and 6% on the "drivers and features" section. I've waited over an hour with no change in either percentage number.
Error Message: Error "0xC1900101 - 0x30018 - Error in the installation in the phase FIRST_BOOT with an error during the operation SYSPREP

After reboot from the freeze, it just puts my OS back to Win 8.1. I've spent hours on phone with Microsoft with no solution. Do you have any suggestions?

Error code 0xC1900101- 0x30018, The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during SYSPREP operation. This error code is not found in the Troubleshoot tips, can anyone help?
