    Error 0xc1900101 when updating W10 21H1 from W10 2004


    Since several weeks, I can no longer update W10 due to error 0xc1900101. During the last 4 installation attempts, I see 2 consecutive errors during the pre-appearance phase in Event Viewer: Event 7000, Service Control Manager stating: "The WsDrvInst service failed to start due to the following error: The system failed, it can find the specified file. Does anyone have any idea what controller or file might be involved? Unfortunately it's not in the system registry and I don't know where to look elsewhere.

    I'm more or less coming to my incompetece level. I bought a Fujisto Esprimo Q556/2 with W7.1 and W10 PRO as an option installed and thought I got a working system. I did not understand that that you more or les need to be a software engineer to get it working.

    I found the error in the thread you pointed me too. There I was directed to error 0xc000021a. First point:

    You need to convert the drive or partition from NTFS to GPT. What is GPT? Which drive are you talking about.? Next step:

    • Turn off the PC, and put in the Windows installation DVD or USB key.
    My machine does not have a CD/DVD and came with W10 preinstalled. What USB key are you talking about ? I'm lost on how to proceed with and how to handle 0xc000021a???

    I also have a problem when I press reply to answer questions, the answer fields are greyed out. Have to try several times before I can answer. Yes I'm logged in..

    Updating to 2004 failure due to 0xc1900101 error

    Hello,

    I'm facing consistent issues updating from 1903 to version 2004 facing a 0xc1900101 error after attempted installations.
    I've uninstalled antivirus, updated graphics drivers, and ran sfc /scannow. There is 144 gb free on my install drive.

    Does anybody have any suggestions? I've been trying this update on and off for a few weeks.

    Windows version is 10.0.18362 Build 18362
