Windows 10: Error 0xc190011f on update 1809 for Windows 10

I keep receiving a warning saying that the update failed to install on my PC.


the message is functionality update Windows 10, version 1809 - Error 0xc190011f.


could someone please explain the issue and what can be done to correct this.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update - Modern Setup Host and error 0xc190011f

Trying to update Asus laptop, which was bought with Win 10 installed, with the Anniversay update. After 20 minutes or so and several downloads & updates, the update fails with Modern Setup Host stopped working message. When cleared, a screeen is presented
saying: "Something went wrong. You can contact Microsoft suppport for help with this error. Here is the error code 0xc190011f"

Any suggestions?

Some progress, some no-progress. I've re-installed Windows 10 from my recovery pen drive. I've removed every application from the laptop which can be removed, including the anti-virus program. Re-set to a clean boot state as suggested and then re-tried
the update. I've re-tried several times and continue to get a failure every time. The error does vary, sometimes the same error as reported above ie: 0xc190011f, sometimes a different error - I haven't noted it. Where to next?
