Windows 10: Error 1316

I have one user in our office running Windows 10 and Office 2007.


When they were trying to find a missing file that they downloaded, they cam across multiple (hundreds) of error files in their Temp folder with the error message "Error 1316. The specified account already exists."


They are not encountering any other problems, but it seems they've been getting this error message for months.


How do I tell which program this is related to?

I get an Error Code 1316 while uninstalling the TBCU program- Windows 10.

Original Title - Error code 1316

Had downloaded the Toshiba Battery Check Utility to see if my laptop battery was part of the Panasonic battery recall. When I go to uninstall the TBCU program, I get an Error Code 1316. Any idea why this error occurs and why it prevents the uninstall?

Here are the answers to your first 2 questions:

I go to Control Panel > Programs and Features

Click on Check Designer (which is the checksoft program)

Click on Uninstall

Receive window to confirm uninstall yes or no, click yes



Receive: Error 1316. the specified account already exists



I also tried to uninstall from the backup CD when prompted to uninstall and receive same Error 1316



Other options are to click on Repair in Programs and Features as well as from the

Backup CD.

Response is:

Error 1334. The file

_ED4CAD26D6672306F7EDC45C49218B1D’ cannot be instlled because the file cannot be found in the cabinet file ‘Data1.cab’. This could be indicat a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.



I then click on ok and receive:

Fatal error during installation.

I will attempt your suggestion to run its uninstaller and advise.

Unable to use program Checksoft. Tried to reinstall from backup CD. Advised must first uninstall. Unable to uninstall receiving code 1316. Advised by Dell I need to clean registry. Is this the best approach and what is best approach for this?
