Windows 10: Error code 0xc000098 on a Surface Go.

So last weekend we got a blue screen and this message


Your PC/Device needs to be repaired” , “The Boot Configuration Data file doesn’t contain valid information for an operating system“. The error code is 0xc000098.

I created a bootable USB drive from a working PC to repair the device using a USB drive I know my Go doesn't have a USB!. I then got my Bitlocker recovery key for the Go. I then selected Boot configuration and move USB Storage to the top of the boot order list. Then select Exit from the menu and restart the PC with the USB drive inserted using a USB/C adapter.


Went into Advance and ran the command prompt and popped in Bootrec /fixmbr which was successful and then tried to create the boot files using bcdboot c:\windows /l en-us I bought my device in the US and it then said "failure when attempting to copy boot files". Exited and then I end up in a never ending loop of selecting the language and keyboard layout. I can not even get to enter my bitlocker recovery key.

Hi all

Ive recently ran into trouble with error codes 0xc000034 and now 0xc000098 on my windows 10 Asus laptop. Ive tried fixing the issue on my own by installing the windows 10 installation media on my usb, and then entering some lines of codes on command prompt.Ive
also tried to go back to a previous windows version and ive also tried the automatic repairs option. However, nothing seems to work, and in fact, i think ive put my computer in a poorer state through trying to fix the problem

on my own.

Any help is appreciated, ty
