Windows 10: Error encountered in opening remote desktop services

Hi, I want to reconfigure my remote desktop setting and I accidentally changed my termsrv.dll file under System32. And I couldn't start remote desktop services since then because it keeps stucking at the starting stage. How do I fix this problem? Thanks !Lin

Hello,

To troubleshoot this issue, you can try the following steps:

1. Check if there are any updates available for Windows and install them.



2. Check if the Remote Desktop service is set to start automatically. To do this, run "services.msc" and press Enter. Look for the "Remote Desktop Services" service and check if it's set to start automatically.



3. Try resetting the Remote Desktop service. To do this, open Command Prompt as an administrator and type the following commands:

net stop termservice

net start termservice

4. If the issue persists, you can enable “Show Analytic and Debug Logs” and check if there are any errors in the Event Viewer related to the Remote Desktop service.

1. Are you using the Microsoft remote desktop app?
   

If you are using the Microsoft remote desktop app downloaded from
Microsoft store then, I suggest you to follow the steps to
fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store.



If the issue still persists with the Microsoft remote desktop app, then you can contact the support team by going to the

link and scrolling down to the bottom and clicking on
Microsoft remote desktop support under the Publisher info.



However, if you are using the Remote desktop connection, which comes pre-installed with Windows 10, then I suggest you to please post your question in the
TechNet forum.
