Error in attempts to upgrade from Windows 10 1709 to 1903 or 1909

For whatever reason, I have a Windows 10 PC that hasn't upgraded past 1709 and I'm now beginning to use that PC. To bring it up to date, it has been attempting to download and install 1903 without success. I consistently get the following message:

"Feature update to Windows 10, version 1903 - Error 0x80070002"

I have tried several things, multiple times, including download the creation tool from here:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

... which give me version 1909. When attempting to install from the ISO it also fails, with no descriptive message other than my "system doesn't appear ready" for the update even though it meets all the requirements.

I have validated my version of Windows is authentic:

Windows 10 is activated with a digital license.

I have boot from the DVD with the ISO and it tells me to reboot to the installed Windows to perform an upgrade.

When I boot to the installed Windows and run the Setup.exe from the DVD, it progresses until it tells me my system doesn't appear ready. Several minutes in.

So, I'm stuck unless I want to totally re-install Windows and blow everything away. In attempting that path, the 1909 installer would not take my product key, so that doesn't work either. Am I stuck with 1709 forever? I'm afraid even if I re-installed from the recovery drive, I may still be in the same position and unable to upgrade further.

What can I do at this point?

    Thank you,

    Asa Jay

    :)

Completely missing Dot Net in Windows 10 -1909?

.NET Framework is built-into Windows 10 version 1903 and Windows 10 version 1909. It is not possible for at least this version of the .NET Framework to be installed.

The error you have received, is likely due to the fact the application you are attempting to use, is specifically trying to target a version of the .NET Framework you don't have installed. I suggest using official Microsoft tool to download a Windows 10 version 1909 ISO. You can use the Media Creation Tool and/or the Upgrade Assistant. Windows ISO Downloader was only recently updated to support .NET Framework 4.8 on November 8th 2019. If you were not using Version 8.22, and would like to still use the tool, you need to download that version.

RaymondCC .NET Detector looks at registry keys that are created when you install .NET Framework. It does not support the .NET Framework version that are included with Windows 8.0+

The built-in version of the .NET Framework for Windows 10 version 1903 was .NET Framework 4.8

.NET Framework 4.5+ has never been located in the list of Windows Features for any version of Windows. The lack of .NET Framework 3.5 is likely due to your WinSxS directory not containing it.

You can install .NET Framework 3.5 if you run the same command you ran, but provide a source, to the components you need.

This is due to the fact the .Net Framework 4.8 is already installed on Windows 10 version 1903 and Windows 10 version 1909. .NET Framework 4.8 is an in-place upgrade to .NET Framework 4.5

This normally only happens when you have moved vital folders like the user's profile to a non-standard location.

Your inability to install .NET Framework 3.5 is extremely easy to fix and likely the reason your unable to run the third-party application. Perform the following steps to solve that problem.

    1. Download a Windows 10 version 1909 ISO
    2. Mount the ISO within Windows 10
    3. Run the following command, the command assumes, the drive letter assigned to the virtual mount is D:
      • DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:d:\sources\sxs

Source: Deploy .NET Framework 3.5 by using Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM)

Unable to update Windows 10 Pro version 1709 to 1803

Have made several attempts to update Windows 10 version 1709 to the latest version 1803 and have not been successful.

I've done the following per some suggestions found online:

    • Updated drivers
    • Ran the Trouble Shooter for Windows 10 (Errors found were shown to be "Fixed" per the tool)
    • Unplugged the printer

Although not at every attempt, I have received the following errors:

    • 0xc1900101
    • 0x80070643

Can someone please advise me as to what the errors are and provide me with the steps to update Windows.

    Thank you.

Error in attempts to upgrade from Windows 10 1709 to 1903 or 1909

Upgraded to 1903 but it still 1809

At this point I am just exploring this topic and listening to all opinions.

Upgrading from 1809 to 1903 on my desktop was painless and error free, but it was forced upon me by MS. They ignored my update delay settings, and suddenly and unexpectedly the update/upgrade began. I resigned to it because I have four 1809 Macrium mirrors. If 1903 failed, I could easily restore.

Currently, I still have 1809 on the laptop. Are you suggesting to upgrade from 1809 to 1909? Now, 1909 is offered on the settings\updates page. I made two attempts to upgrade from 1809 to 1903. The first attempt was from the update link in the settings\updates and the second attempt was from Microsoft's update site - both failed. Based on this recent experience, the 1909 update will also fail because of Acer.
