Windows 10: Error in DVD player

Also if you go to the reviews on the Windows DVD Player store app, you will find that I am not the only one with this issue.

 

My choice would be to download and install VLC/VideoLAN and try with it, see if the same results come up or it works. I'm not having a bit of problem with the computers I've installed it on if there was nothing wrong with a CD, DVD or downloaded file. Don't know if the OP has even tried it yet.

 

For a year from Windows 10's release the Windows DVD Player was a free automatic update for qualifying systems. That is any W7/W8 system that was a Media Centre edition before the upgrade to W10. I got mine that way in 2015, it still works fine after the Creators Update.

There was an update for the Windows DVD Player that (for those of us who got it free) should have been delivered through windows update. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3106246 If you have had that update the version shown in 'About' on the 'three dots' menu should be 3.6.1329.0 as mine is. If you haven't had that update, try turning on 'Give me updates for other Microsoft products when I update Windows.'

For those that bought it, updates are delivered through the Store.

 

That must be the Reliability Update I referred to before.

 

In the 5K Player application it works fine. Rules out a faulty DVD.
