Windows 10: Error installing Windows 10 upgrade - Error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Why NOT fix the problem?


I have written Operating System code, and I know it is NOT necessary to crash a system except in VERY rare circumstances.


These systems are used for businesses.


Businesses can not afford to have stuff just randomly STOP working. The cost can be enormous.


So Catch the interrupt of an addressing error, take the diagnostic, report in a more intelligent way and leave the system running,

even if the offending device is now not functioning correctly or at all. Clearly the video is still working enough to report the error..


I acknowledge the problem happens under many different circumstances BUT it is the SAME problem.


My current experience is for a PC running 1709 fine, but upgrade to 1803 or 1809 after HOUR of SETUP, fail, and the install also fails a few seconds into using an ISO to attempt a clean install.


So there appears to be NO dump in this case, as it has not even started to access the HDD, just rebooting after reading the W10 DVD.


What are we supposed to do? Throw the PC in the BIN and then take pot luck that the next one will work. I have waited 6 months for 1809 to arrive, since 1803 did not work, and 1809 has the same problem.


And will you stop putting the junior hand holder seat warmers onto this problem and hand it over to the LAB as a priority,

The time this has been around is a disgrace. I know a fair bit about IBM and even they, who are notoriously slow with fixes, could probably do better than this. I can not see how Microsoft OS's are ever going to be considered industry capable if this sort of support is the norm.


I am inviting other experienced OS coder insiders (of any IT company, active or retired) to support this view and ask Microsoft to get a move on, OR perhaps explain why this can not be fixed.

List the EXACT "blah, blah" you mention, here please... for ALL installation cases!

(Sound like a possible "DLL-Hell" issue, but "Windows File Protection" &/or "System File Protection" should have countered for this... no biggie, there's ways around that too!)

Windows 10 64bit, IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal error

I would like to inform that IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal error indicates that Microsoft Windows or a kernel-mode driver accessed paged memory at DISPATCH_LEVEL or above.

Do let us know the following to assist you better with this issue:

• What is the make and model of your device?
• Have you made any changes to your system prior to this issue?
• Are you able to boot the device to desktop?
• Does this issue persists only while playing games?

This Stop error message usually occurs during installation when there was an attempt in kernel mode to touch pageable memory at too high a process internal request level (IRQL). Typically,
this error occurs when a driver uses an incorrect memory address. Other possible causes of this error include an incompatible device driver, a general hardware problem, or incompatible software.

If you are able to boot the device to desktop, try the below troubleshooting steps

Step 1: As an initial step,
, I suggest you to download and install any pending updates on the computer through Windows update and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Steps:

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.

Step 2: I suggest you to refer to the Microsoft article, try the troubleshooting steps mentioned and check if it helps.
