Windows 10: error involving RTKVAC.SYS

My motherboard is a SuperMicro X6DAL-XTG. I installed the L: drivers that are provided with that motherboard. The package is A3.79, it contains version 5.10.0.5950 (2005-10-24) of the driver.
It works, although a bit crippled since there is neither Control Panel app nor the Soud Manager application anymore. But I do have sound (microphone not tested yet) and no more blue screens.
Anything more recent that I have tried fails, like the one for XP on Realtek website (it is package A4.06 with 5.10.0.6300 2008-09-24).

BSOD after upgrade to windows 10

The dump file indicates the RTKVAC.SYS caused the crash:

BugCheck 1E, {c0000005, 8d99aa54, 0, 0}

*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for RTKVAC.SYS

*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for RTKVAC.SYS

Probably caused by : RTKVAC.SYS ( RTKVAC+daa54 )

The RTKVAC.SYS is the Realtek AC97 sound driver.

Can you try the following to confirm the sound driver is at issue:

Open the Device Manager and right-click the Realtek AC97 Audio device and select "Disable" and then disable the device.

Restart the computer and see if the same BSOD occurs.

I would rather suggest you to perform a repair in-place upgrade on the current operating system, this will just fixes/ repairs the issues with any corrupted system files and will not restore any lost data prior to this.

In-place upgrade is to repair the current state of your operating system. Also, the issues with built-in apps on Windows 10 would be fixed when you perform the repair.

The motherboard does not support windows10, apparently.




So it is obvious that the drivers provided with the motherboard will not work.

One thing you still may try. Enable Device Driver Automatic Installation, then run windows update to check if it is able to get the proper drivers there.
If it can get the drivers, good. Otherwise technically you should not use Windows 10 on this motherboard.
