    Hello.

    I have a Surface Pro 4 operating a 64-bit OS with W10 Pro version 20H2. The primary Windows HDD has 90Gb unallocated space of a 350Gb size. My primary issue is that I want to run Restore Disk processes and this cannot occur automatically. The disk is in working order. This problem arose following an issue with ms-settings that was created by an unknown event, it is likely related but I'm unsure. I ran an AppXManifest script to repair the ms-system issue which now appears to be resolved. I have conducted a dozen processes including sfc, chkdsk, DISM health and restore tool processes, and recreated the Wbem Repository dir. I have examined and enabled the Win Shadow Svc manual to auto, enabled Virtual Disk and Volume Shadow Copy. The System Properties will open, but the System Protection tab initiates the error message 'in the property page': System Restore encountered an error etc. ...

    Appreciate new ideas.

    Noting your comments about services, it may be something's been changed there: you could try
    Tweaking.com's free cautious repair tool and run just the repairs related to services.

    System restore/recovery error message 0x81000203

    I cannot set a restore point nor open recovery. I get error message 0x81000203. Running Windows 10 Home with all current updates. Cannot find System Restore in registry, nor Windows NT folder.

    When trying to access system restore I get an error message saying unexpected error on the properties page: 0x81000203.
