Windows 10: Error: please insert external media...

this is what I'm getting and I can't click open or close anything what do I do

Error: Please Insert The External Storage Media And Press Ok

My computer, HP 14-an013nr, said to do the Windows 10 update, but the storage was full so it suggested an external storage device... The problem is that now after using a usp drive and following the steps it is unable to reinstall the previous version. I've
tried this multiple times and even when it says "Restoring the previous version of windows" it always comes back to the "error please insert the external storage media and press ok" message. I can no longer use the computer. It will do NOTHING. It won't restore
the previous version of windows and only shows a black screen with the error message. Is there a way to save the thing or is it lost?

Hi,

I cannot proceed with upgrade to Win10 because during the upgrade Windows wants me to insert the external storage media in order to proceed with the install. The problem is I never removed the media. It is still installed... I have popped it out and reinserted
it and still I have an error, "Please insert the external storage media and press OK"

Help?

• Did you try inserting the external storage to another port of the computer or inserting it in another computer and check if it gets recognized?
• Are other external devices getting recognized in the computer?

• Select “Hardware and Sound” from the Troubleshooter Window.
• Select “Hardware and Devices” under Devices option.
• Follow the On Screen instructions.

Please revert if the external storage media still does not get recognized.
