If you are using USB, try burning the ISO to DVD (use imgburn program). I had the same problem. Although I did not try Re-making the USB installer, the DVD installer worked well in just one go. It's probably just a corrupted USB but you can try again. If you want to try burning the ISO, be sure to do it at low speed (x8) to avoid errors. +1.

To be sure I tested now with 9860 x64 EN-US ISO created as told in this tutorial, burned to USB, selecting formats: Denmark, keyboard: Danish. No issues. Also to be sure I tested now with 9860 x64 EN-US ISO created as told in this tutorial, burned to USB, selecting formats: Denmark, keyboard: Danish. No issues.[/QUOTE]

Tried one more time, same thing happend, some files are missing and install abort.
Burned the image to a dvd DL to try this way. Again install aborted with the same error of missing files. The original downloaded .ISO do work:

Try to create a new ISO, it might be your ISO is somewhat corrupted. I cannot reproduce your issue, having no problems. I have repeated the process several times now, creating a new ISO of build 9860 as told in this tutorial and I cannot get it fail.

I have the above problem inasmuch that I cannot upgrade....I can find all of your info except the deletion of
2.) Delete the file C:\$UPG$PBR.MARKER (system file, UAC asks your permission, click OK to accept deletion), close the Explorer.
How can I find this...I have all hidden files showing...but cannot find this.
    Any help would be appreciated.

As the file should be deleted in any case, it's no big deal if it is missing. If the marker file is not there then it does not need to deleted *Smile.

    Just a fast report:
Thanks Kari for this thread, I tired it and I was able to install Win10TP 9680 from the ISO I created(Clean Install).
It works just fine and I didn't have a single issue, so far. In fact this is the best version yet.

    Again, Thanks.

Yep, now it works. A new ISO, but the new ISO is still smaller than the original downloaded (as written earlier). I don't care though as it is now working *Smile

Thank you for being patient with me *Smile

ESD to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 ESD File

You do realize that the instructions in post #49 , including the instructions to delete those two folders on C: drive are only for those who have upgraded Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Technical Preview? This should be as is clearly told in post #49. Something in your previous post made me wonder if this is your case.

If you have a clean install of Windows 10 Build 9841 and now failed to upgrade to Build 9860 those instructions do not apply to you.

Anyway, click Continue to accept deletion when Windows UAC (User Access Control) tells you you need to provide administrator rights.

Just one more data point: I did an in-place upgrade of Windows 7 Home Premium to 9841, and an in-place upgrade of 9841 to 9860. I had the Install.wim in c:\RecoveryImage. The ESDtoIso tool had no trouble making an iso file from it.

Great news! Have you tested the ISO, that it works?

Alas, I spoke too soon. It looked like things were going to complete in good fashion, and then...

Any idea what that's all about?

I was surprised after reading your last post, the script in this tutorial can normally not create ISO from WIM file. But you told that "The ESDtoIso tool had no trouble making an iso file from it", so I thought OK, I was wrong.

You need to use some other tool to create an ISO from WIM, or follow the instructions in post #49 prior to upgrading to 9860.

ESD to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 ESD File

I had inferred from a post early in this thread that ESDtoISO had no problem working with wim files, and when it smoothly went through the early phases, right on up to 100% of applying the iso, or however it said it, that I was home free. I should know better at my age :-/

Is there a standard tool for creating and ISO from a WIM? I'd like to make an iso if I can.

Thanks for the tutorial Kari! I was having problems with the upgrade, but after creating the .ISO and burning a DVD I was able to do a clean install and everything seems to be working well. *Thumbs

Your upgrade failed? Did you find the ESD file in C:\$Windows.~BT\Source or in C:\RecoveryImage?
