Windows 10: ESET Banking & Payment Protection v Firefox

Hi. I've just installed ESET antivirus which includes a browser that apparently "protects your personal data when using online banking". The browser doesn't work (it crashes as soon as I start to type a URL) but it made me wonder: does the ESET browser provide some level of security/privacy that you can't get from Firefox and it's myriad of settings (in Tools and about:config)?

Hello Community,

When I try using the ESET Banking & Payment protection program, it opens up an Internet Explorer window instead of a Windows Edge, or Firefox or any other browser. This is true even though I have tried to set all other browsers as default other than Internet
Explorer.

I would use IE, but it crashes when it is launched by ESET.

How can I point ESET to another browser?

Or perhaps, how can I delete the: point to IE thing.

The ESET Banking and Payment Protection is part of the ESET anti-virus suite, and just creates a harder https tunnel for banking purposes only.





The desktop link normally open the default browser, and it has a green edge around it's window like so:





The following happened once: If I open Edge and I type the url of my bank, I got a suggestion to go through the ESET banking app. This does not happen any more.

Now it just opens the banking page like it did in the past, with the usual https:// protocol.

On all my other computers, the ESET app opens the default browser, but on this computer, it opens IE no matter which browser is the default one.

Since yesterday, IE does not crash anymore when it is opened via the ESET app, which if it stays like that is fine with me. I just don't understand why it uses IE.

The issue is not necessarily specific to this site, but I only use this app for banking as directed by ESET. I believe this is an app a little like trustee from IBM...

The last time I logged in using this method without any issues was 1 to 2 months ago.

  Is the Eset banking program an application (Client) or is it an online banking website?
  
• 
  If it is an online banking website what happens when you run Edge and while logging to the website?
  
• 
  Is the issue specific to this particular website only?
  
• 
  When was the last time you logged in without any issues?
