Windows 10: ESP32 Device not seen. COM3 is missing

Hi,


I am currently working on an IoT project and suddenly the ESP32 device I am working on is no longer seen by Windows 10.

I am running this:



I have tried to switch between USB ports, but no luck.

I have checked the Device Manager and the port COM3 is missing. I also looked in the hidden devices.

I have installed the driver

But still no luck. When I plug in the device the device starts working and I receive my data in AWS.

Now I want to update the code on my ESP32, but I can not do that.

The device works and behaves on Linux perfectly fine, but due to the nature of the project I have to work on a Windows machine.

Do you have any recommandations on how to get back the COM3 port working?

Is there any official Microsoft solution?

Imaging Devices missing in Device Manager and Webcam doesn't working

Hi,

Since you mentioned that the said driver is missing in Device Manager, what we suggest is for you to check in the Hidden Devices section on Device Manager. Kindly follow the steps below:

• On the desktop, press Windows key + X and select
  Device Manager.
• Click on View and select
  Show Hidden Devices.
• Check for the webcam under Imaging Devices.
• If the webcam is listed, then right-click on it and select
  Update Driver Software
• Select Browse My Computer for Driver Software and follow the prompted steps.

Please post back with the result for further assistance

 

Bluetooth coms fail with duplicate com3 port

OK, I can make a connection but there are com ports left in the wake of the process which dont work and which have to be removed by hand... and that includes editing the registry - so that can't be right.

So I am back asking the question what is happening in the sequence below which is not supposed to be... and why is that? Appologies but it's a hell of a long process to get to the errors - but that's what Ive been left fighting with...

The instrument is called a Kane

The aim of this testing is to see if the PC and Kane can be turned on, connected, turned off, turned on and connected again - without fuss. On my old XP pc I can do this successfully all day. With my win10 PC I have to edit the registry...

I can now begin at the top of this process and edit the registry to remove the duplicate com ports.
