Windows 10: "'Ethernet 6' doesn't have a valid IP configuration"

History

About a two years ago, I ended up "cutting the cord" with Spectrum Communications formerly Time Warner Cable, because they kept going up on the internet rates. I decided to just use the EasyTether App one-time fee of $9.99 on my Android phones as a hotspot which bypassed my prepaid phone services cap on the mobile hotspot. This worked great until my wife got a new job and was required to work from home and was required to pay for her own internet. The company, my wife worked for, would not allow a "third party app" like EasyTether to be loaded onto her work laptop. So I broke down and called Spectrum Communications to hook up internet into our apartment which by the way doesn't allow any satellites, so I don't have any other option for internet.


I had previously purchased the Motorola Arris SURFboard eXtreme SBG6782-AC Wireless Cable Modem & Router with MoCA Networking which was from an approved list of devices that Time Warner Cable recommended customers to buy. I bought this modem/router so I would avoid spending the "rental fees" that Time Warner was tacking on my bill every month, although it cost me a couple hundred dollars to buy.


Invalid IP Configuration

After I called Spectrum Communications to activate my internet account using my old, "customer-owned equipment", I was able to have access to the internet. However, after getting off the phone with the tech support, I noticed on some devices they couldn't connect to the WiFi. Furthermore, when I hard-wired, using an Ethernet cable, the computer wouldn't connect to the internet. I decided to use the "Troubleshooting problems" option on Windows 10 just right click on the WiFi signal bars and choose "Troubleshooting problems". Windows 10 did its thing and came back "'Ethernet 6' doesn't have a valid IP configuration".


I called Spectrum Communications back and, of course, they couldn't troubleshoot my issue because "it wasn't their equipment". After an hour of troubleshooting, everything seemed to point to my modem/router. I decided to do a hard reset using a paper clip, I pushed the reset button in the back of my modem/router for 30 seconds. After a couple of minutes, I was accessing the internet and able to get into my modem/router.


To Get Into The Modem/Router

By the way, to get into the modem/router follow these steps: 1 hard-wire your modem/router using an Ethernet cable to connect your computer, 2 open a web browser like Chrome and type 192.168.0.1 into the browser, 3 type in the default username: "admin" and password: "motorola" for security you'll want to change this later, 4 on the Home screen of the modem/router, click "Launch Quick Start Wizzard" and this will guide you through how to setup the WiFi. Note: take a picture of the Passphrase or Password so you can connect to the internet later on with you other devices.

Ethernet dosen,t have a valid ip configuration

It says the same thing at my end when my Ethernet is working perfectly as shown below:

Hi My erthernet connection stoped working, and I can't get it going again. It stopped working after I was looking at some network programs on a PE rescue disk, that i had not used before. Whether It was something I done or it just died I don't know.
Windows 10 10.0.18362 and tried 10.0.19035
Cable has light when you plug it in
Network connections says "unidentified network".
Troubleshooter says "Ethernet dosn,t have a valid ip configuration"
Device manager has everything listed as working.
Network connections Status window says IPv4 no network access, IPv6 no network access, speed 100.0 Mbps, Diagnose says, "Ethernet dosn,t have a valid ip configuration"
I uninstalled all network adapters, restarted and reinstalled network adapters.
I reistalled Windows 10, still not working.
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks Shane.
