Windows 10: Ethernet completely stopped working

W10 pro 64b build 18363

So I was playing warzone when my ping spiked to 1000... game crashed due to the internet, then I restarted my pc and I got a blank screen. Opened task manager and restarted explorer.exe. This did not help but I kept spamming the restart button and after a few minutes explorer opened again.

But then I noticed my Ethernet was not being detected at all as if it wasn’t plugged in. I checked the Ethernet on another device whilst still connected to router and it was working perfectly fine. I checked another Ethernet cable just to make sure but the same issue was still occurring. I have an Qualcomm atheros driver which worked perfectly for the past year and I’ve tried killer Ethernet e2200 - both with same results.

I’ve also tried booting into safe mode w networking but this still hasn’t fixed the issue. I’ve uninstalled the previous windows update but as expected this hasn’t fixed the issue.

I have a PCIE wifi card which works perfectly fine for wifi, the Ethernet I was using is one from the Z97 MSI Gaming 5 motherboard.

Any help will be greatly appreciated as I’m very lost on what to do.

I don't really think it is functioning unless when it is lit that means it is there is a cable detection program in the bios and it isn't working right so owell bought a 12.00 gigabit ethernet card from the egg. I will rma it in a year or so if I get a new board. So I can sell it without any flaws and who knows maybe it will majically start working again.

Good Idea tried it and reset the bios with no result. It's like the ethernet adapter just stopped existing. When the cord is plugged in it glows yellow so it has power it just won't work. I'm using the usb pug now but it's BS to keep a motherboard you payed 179.00 when it doesn't work like it is supposed to. I typed Gigabyte tech support and I might have to RMA. That would suck since they have no advanced RMA. It was working fine until I took my motherboard out to put my Thermalright Ultima back on my CPU, put back together and it just stopped working WTF.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
