  1. Ethernet connection issues

    Greetings,

I have a big Ethernet issue when turning my computer on or getting it out of sleep. It just doesn't want to connect, unless I go to :

Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Centre > Change adapter setting > Ethernet > Diagnose.

The diagnostic returns "ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration", but then my Ethernet starts working out of the blue. I tried identifying the problem using WireShark, but when I start the capture, my Ethernet connection is back out of the blue again.

I would just like not to have to go through those annoying steps in order to use my computer, so I would like to get rid of the issue.

Potential source of the problem :

I cannot say for sure this was the origin of the problem, but as it started on the same day, it seems reasonable to assume so.

I recently had an online class where we had to use GNS3 to virtualise a small network. During the configuration, I used local IPs for every interface on the network, from 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.0.23.

My Ethernet interface uses 192.168.0.10 as a preferred local IP, which lead me to believe the problem emanated from DHCP resolution. I checked a couple documentations to no avail, did a Network reset Settings > Network & Internet, Network reset, and it did not fix the problem.

    Any advice helps, thanks !

    :)
