Windows 10: Ethernet Splitter

I recently acquired a new Modem from Cox which I should call a Modem/Router since the router is an integral part of the unit. The problem is that it only has two ports for Ethernet cables and I need three, all desktops So, what did I do? I went out and bought an RJ45 Ethernet Splitter. It doesn't work. As I said, I need to accommodate three computers so after I plug in #1, desktop to the Modem/Router,I have one port left which I connected a brand new Ethernet cable to and plugged the other end into the RJ45 Splitter. Then I connected my wife's computer to one of the remaining ports on the Sp

You'd have to use a pair of such splitters. There's 4 pairs of wires in the cable [8 wires] but the network uses only 2 pairs. There are such splitters but they are nowhere as cheap as offered in that ad, more like $20 to $50 each and need 2. The Ethernet Switch is the better way to go if not wanting to add a second Ethernet adapter creating a second Network. I have 2 NAS drives plugged into an 8-port Switch connected to a port on the Router and haven't had a problem.

Solution 1: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1or Windows 10

Step 1:

Go to Device Manager → Network adapters.
Step 2:

Expand it (Network adapters).


Step 3:

Select your network adapter


Step 4:

Right click on your wireless network adapter or Ethernet adapter and then tap “Update Driver Software”.
(in this case your network adopter is Ethernet adopter so tap your Ethernet adapter)
Step 5:

Now on a new window you will need to click on “Browse my computer for driver software”.




Step 6:

Then select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”.



Step 7:

Now choose the “Manufacturer’s drivers” from the list of two and then click next.



Step 8:

After the completion of the process just restart your PC and check if the problem is solved or not. If not, goto solution 2.



Solution 2: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1,windows10

Step 1:

Open command prompt.
Step 2:

Just go on hitting the enter after typing the each command.
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
Step 3:

Now to check if the settings are disabled type:
netsh int tcp show global
then hit enter.
Step 4:

Now the thing left is just rebooting your system and just check if the problem is solved or not and just give feedback.*chuckle*Thumbs
