Event ID 10016 How can I filter these messages out of event viewer?

Ok I have added nearly every damn account on the system to the perappruntimebroker but this dcom is ****ing broken it still reports the same damn error. The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54} and APPID {15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402} to the user ALLIANCE\malaac SID (S-1-5-21-1680131077-723944566-4054429509-1002) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool. Microsoft has totally broken this DCOM app and it's filling up my damn event viewer repeatedly with this error especially since it triggers if you just re-open a browser. How could Microsoft so **** up so badly... Anyways how the hell can I just create a filter to block these damn messages from filling up my event viewer?

    :)

  2. Event viewer error with event id 10016

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community forum.

I understand that you are getting an error “DistributedCOM 10016” in the event viewer logs.

    • Do you face any issues on the computer?
    • Have you made any recent changes to the computer?
This problem may occur if either of the following conditions is true:

    • A program with the class ID (CLSID) that appears in the message tries to start the COM component by using the DCOM infrastructure. However, the user does not have the required permissions to start the COM component.

    • The Network Service account does not have the correct permissions.

Event logs are special files that record significant events on your computer, such as when a user logs on to the computer or when a program encounters an error. Whenever these types of events occur, Windows records the event in
an event log that you can read by using Event Viewer. Advanced users might find the details in event logs helpful when troubleshooting problems with Windows and other programs.

If you do not have any issues with app or any other program I would suggest you to ignore it.

Keep us posted if you face any issues related to Windows in future. We will be glad to help you.

  3. Event Viewer: Filter Administrative Events?

The Administrative Events window quickly fills up with DistributedCOM warnings and errors. I tried to fix this, but in the end, couldn't get past the final step:

    Fixing DistributedCOM error 10016

Failing that (any other ideas folks on how to fix rather than hide the errors??), I would at least like to filter out all event IDs 10010 and 10016: there are so many after a few weeks that it's hard to navigate through the mass of them to find other information. I should be able to go to Administrative Events and in Actions choose 'Filter Current Custom View'. But everything is greyed out (nothing at all is clickable) in the 'Filter Current Custom View' window, even though I log into Event Viewer as Administrator.

How do I proceed in order to filter those events from Administrative Events?

(Creating a new custom filter is not what I want to do BTW, and in any case (having tried it), setting -10010,-10016 as the filter removes a whole lot of other events present in Administrative Events, for some reason).

    Thank you.

    Event Viewer: Filter Administrative Events?

    Martin,

dialog = dialog box = the onscreen box you see

The initial display of this is as shown in my post #8 but you can click on the xml tab to work in xml instead if you prefer.

You make whatever changes you want. Your initial post indicated that you wanted to add
    -10016,-10010
to the EventID input box where it currently shows <All Event IDs>.
By the way, I have counted the lists made using this filter and it certainly seems to operate as it should -
    no filter :18777 Events listed
    10010,10016 : 962 Events listed
    -10010,-10016 : 17815 Events listed
