Every time there is a windows update my peer to peer network disconnects

Every time Windows does a major update, it somehow disconnects my peer to peer network. I have checked to make sure network discovery is turned on and i have made sure the password is turned off. But i am still getting a thing asking me for my credentials. The mapped drives that i have on my computer to be able to access files on the 2nd computer on the network have a red X on them. When i click on them, it asks for me credentials, i enter my pin number and it tells me that the computer is not on the domain, but i don't know if it's talking about my computer or the other one. But there is no domain. It's peer to peer. I hope someone can help because we own an accounting firm and this is our busiest time of year. I almost kept Windows from updating but i'm scared not to let it.

    :)

Windows 10 Peer to Peer Network

    • No changes were made, it is a brand new machine.
    • None - asked the question here.
    • AS I stated above, I keep getting the error The user name or password is incorrect

Is there any tutorials on how to set up a peer to peer network via a CAT5 cable so that I might see where I went awry?

Can not Create Homegroup and error 1068 - Windows could not start the Peer Networking Grouping on Local Computer and

    Hi Ken,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

As per your concern is to create a HomeGroup, do let us know if you are facing the same issue with same error code?

If so, I suggest you to start the services for Peer Networking and check if it helps.

Three particular Windows services manage peer-to-peer networking, and all computers in you are trying to connect should have the same settings in order to reduce error messages and connection problems.

    Step 1: Stop the services.

    • Press Windows Key + R on the keyboard and type
      services.msc
      , Services window gets opened.
    • Search for Peer Name Resolution Protocol service, right click on it and click on
      Stop.
    • Do the same for Peer Networking Group
      and Peer Networking Identity Manager.
    • Restart the computer.

Step 2: Start the service and set it to automatic:

    • Press Windows Key + R on the keyboard and type
      services.msc
      , Services window gets opened.
    • Search for Peer Name Resolution Protocol
service, right click on it and click on
      Properties.
    • Do the same for Peer Networking Group
      and Peer Networking Identity Manager.
    • Start the service, set
      Startup type to Automatic.

Hope it helps. Reply to the post with an updated status of this issue for further assistance.
