Windows 10: Excessive keyboard delay after not typing for a while

My desktop is running WIN10. If I don't use the keyboard for a minute or two, then when I start to type again, I have to wait for a minute or more before the keyboard input is accepted by the computer. I am using a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. The mouse input is not delayed, but the keyboard delays are atrociously long.

I have listened to many YouTube videos, I have changed all the settings that were suggested, but nothing seems to help. I think that enough people have complained about the very same thing that Microsoft ought to listen, and fix the issue.

How can this be fixed?

Keyboard not typing letters

Sorry for the delay in replying. I would suggest you to try the Onscreen keyboard and check if it helps.

Please have a look at this article and check if it helps. Even though the article is for Windows 8.1, the option to enable the onscreen keyboard is the same.

Use the On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) to type

After you are able to log in, I would suggest you to change the log in option or you may follow the steps provided by Neha Gupta to update the drivers and check if it helps.

How do I change the default keyboard from handwriting to typing on Windows 10

• Turn off the on screen keyboard.

Step 2: Turn off tablet mode

I suggest you to turn off tablet mode, as it may also be the cause for the issue.

• Open Start menu, type tablet mode settings in search bar and click on it.
• Turn off the tablet mode option and check if it helps.
