Windows 10: .exe files that work on Windows 10 Ver. 20H2 but not Windows 10 Ver. 2004

I have a number of special purpose .exe files that were generated by Adobe Director. These files have run for years on various PCs I have used in my Business.I purchased a new HP ENVY x360 directly from HP last November. It came with Windows 10 Version 2004 Build 19041.985. Some, but not all of my .exe files do not run on the new ENVY.I also have an older HP Spectre x360 running Windows 10 Version 20H2 Build 19042.985. This PC runs all of the .exe files that don't run on the ENVY.Can anyone help me debug this issue? At least one of my customers has run into the same issue on a new PC. I n

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Recent files list stopped showing in the search window (Ver 2004)

I note I see exactly the same as you (but build 1903) by default.




(And you're right, the forum prompted you to specify your full Windows build number e.g. 19041.508)

However, if you click Folders at the top, this changes to something a bit nearer to what you want.
