Windows 10: EXE i developed refuses to execute on recipient's PC from downloads folder

I wrote a console program in Visual Studio that works fine. When emailed to a friend's downloads folder, PC flatly refuses to execute it without giving choice. Js there a workaround for this?

Downloads folder is the Documents folder

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

Wow, developing an OS is a major project to undertaking . . .

When you say you want to get permission to use the exe format on your PC, do you mean you just want to use the exe file extension or are you concerned with copyright on the exe file format?

Do you intend for developers to compile their applications into an exe and then run those on your new OS?

 

Block Web Browsers Executing downloaded files

hi guys,

im looking for a way to stop a user downloading a exe and Opening it from the web browser.

We are already using software security policies to stop execution from the temp folders etc but is there any other steps we could put in place?
