Windows 10: Explorer.exe Constantly Crashing

Hi - I recently upgraded from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 Pro. I'm really liking the change BUT I am encountering a constant and frustrating problem with explorer.exe crashing and restarting when working within folders. So far, each of the following causes explorer.exe to crash and reset:

• Right clicking inside a folder, desktop, or anywhere (other than inside apps - right clicking in Word, for example, works fine).
• Clicking on the 'new folder' icon inside a window.
• Pasting into a folder a file cut from another location (I can drag and drop but cannot cut and paste).

After explore.exe resets following the right click crash, right clicking thereafter works.

I still need help with the Explorer.EXE crashing and restarting isssue, due to the Shell constantly crashing becuase of the faulty module ntdll.dll

There are several reasons why you've experienced the issue. If all the troubleshooting steps you found did not help, try disabling the Show recently used folders in Quick access and set Open file Explore to this PC. To do so, follow the steps below:

• Open File Explorer.
• On the View tab, select Options drop-down arrow.
• Choose Change folder and search options.
• On General tab, click the drop-down arrow beside Open File Explorer to and select
  This PC.

We also suggest clearing File Explorer in history.

Hi, This is almost certainly related to an installed program - possibly an incompatible shell extension. Download and install Shellexview by Nirsoft (easy to find, free).

Run it, hide all MS entries, disable all the rest, noting the 32 bit option that exposes more.

Then try explorer rt click etc again.

Note that all context menu entries added by installed programs may not have been disabled. If you still experience crashes and more added context menu entries remain, try Glary Utilities which has a context menu editor.
