Windows 10: Explorer.exe doesnt load on start up?

Hey All


No I know this has been an issue for some years reading the million and one sites I've read but now I have this issue and every single thing I try doesnt work.


- Its not an issue within the Regedit

- I cant roll back an windows update that doesnt work.

- sfc /scannow bring no errors

- Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth finds no errors

- The SHELL files in the below is explorer.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon


I would seem to be a profile issue as when I create a new profile and sign in with that one the explorer loads fine, but I have that much stuff on my profile I cant really just keep creating new ones when it happens.


If anyone can help please....

Since it's not allowing you to open the settings of the Internet Explorer itself, we suggest that you type inetcpl.cpl on

File explorer slow/Never loading solution


Ok so since upgrading from 7 to 10 file explorer has been a absolute nightmare! Everything was either incredibly slow, didn't happen or only partially load. After enduring this to this day I have decided enough is enough and started diagnosing by limiting the startup services using MSconfig.

After going through enabling startup services groups at the time and restarting the computer everytime! Eventually I found the service that was causing the problems with file explorer. The service is called Windows search and once disabled it restored functionality to file explorer. The search function in file explorer works but the search in the taskbar doesn't.

Step by step guide:
1. Hold Win+r to open run
2. Type msconfig and hit ok or enter
3. Click Services
4. Navigate to Windows search (you can sort the list in descending alphabetical order)
5. Uncheck tickbox
6. Click apply then ok
7. Select to restart now

Impossible to starts some exe files!


hello everyone,

I need help as I have tried all of what i have found in this and other forums, whitout any success.
Since a week icant start some exe files and i dont know why only some!
i have appleied what was described in Restore Default File Type Associations in Windows 10 Windows 10 Customization Tutorials ,
but no better results.
I have scanned my laptop for virus or malwares, and its clean.
for example i want start Acronis, then win10 say cant find the file even so i try to start it directly from the exe file!
same if i want to start ACDSee and some others applications.

For others files its perfectly ok, like AVG PCtune; Malwarebytes, Microsoft Office and so many others.

I have also tried to install again the sotware which doesnt start but it is the same.

Some people suggested that possibly a dll have been modified, but how to find out?
I hope someone will be able to help me as my next step would be to fully reinstall windows and all applications.
