Windows 10: Explorer.exe keeps crashing and restarting

Hello, this problem started a few days ago. When I so much as click on my desktop, taskbar, on anything on windows explorer, it stops responding and restarts by itself. All my other applications are working perfectly fine during all this. My Windows is up to date, it was unupdated before this happened and I updated thinking it would solve this but it didn't. I don't have an antivirus.

I have tried the following proposed solutions:

> removing graphical accents

> sfc /scannow (multiple times)

> disk check

> reinstalling graphics drivers

> checking event viewer / technical report details

The details says it's an AppHang, and it doesn't point out if there's a module or something that's causing this, either on the problem reports page or the event viewer. About to lose my mind over this. I'd appreciate any help.

File explorer keeps crashing in Win 10

I did the steps you wrote. All the settings were as you suggested. The File Explorer keeps crashing.

Thank you for your reply. If the above steps did not work, let's try another workaround. You can try restarting your Windows Explorer from the Task Manager and see if it will resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

• Open Task Manager.
• Click the drop-down arrow beside More details.
• Under Processes tab, look for Windows Explorer from the list.
• Select Windows Explorer, right-click on it and select Restart.

After doing so, open Windows Explorer and see if it will crash again.

Please follow the steps:

  Right click on the task Bar and select Task Manager.
  
• 
  Select Processes tab.
  
• 
  Choose windows explorer and right click on it.
  
• 
  Select end task
  
• 
  Click on file menu and select run new task.
  
• 
  Type explorer.exe
  
• 
  Click on ok.
