    Explorer issues


    So I suddenly started having a bunch of Windows issues that started in the middle of playing a game, which are:

    Explorer kept crashing/restarting
    Unable to use Windows button, bottom tab icons or alt+tab
    File explorer would close whenever Explorer crashed

    Both Chrome and Edge crashed on startup

    I did a virus scan and didn't find anything, so then I searched online for solutions. First I tried "sfc /scannow" which would stop at 37% every time and fail. Then I tried "DISM /online /cleanup-image / restorehealth" which would always stop at 49.9% and give error 605 saying the specified buffer contains ill-formed data.


    After that I tried a repair install which has somewhat helped as now explorer doesn't constantly keep crashing, the tab icons are back and alt+tab works again but it does still crash occasionally and both Chrome and Edge are still non-functional. Also, I still get the same results from SFC and DISM scans.

    That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

    At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

    are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer
