Export Folder View Settings from Windows 10 Registry

I've been trying to export my folder view settings from the registry so I can port the settings to any new Windows 10 installs or just whenever Windows decides to reset them.

I tried using an application called Regshot to make a snapshot of the registry, change a setting, and make a 2nd snapshot and compare, but didn't have much success, as seemingly unrelated reg values were changing.

The one setting I did find was thanks to this website: Change Folder Template in Windows 10 Customization Tutorials which allows all folders to show up as Details view, but it is only one piece of the puzzle.

Attached screenshot is how I have my folder view setup and want exported.

These are the settings that I would like to know the associated registry files for:
-Folder dimensions (I have it set to 800x600, as shown in the attached screenshot)
-Column order (In the attached screenshot it's shown in the order of Name > Size > Type > Date Modified)
-Colum width (Basically only the Name column is made wider with the other 3 left the default size.)

I've managed to find the Advanced Folder View settings under [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-4045222575-3152731927-3735503414-1001\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] so I think those are all set for me.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    :)

Creators Edition--"Change Only the Text Size" option gone?

    Hi,

My understanding is that it has been removed, at least for now...

What I have resorted to is to save the registry settings (Export) from an earlier version, like the Anniversary Update, and then "Merge" it into the Creators registry...

The registry settings are in this registry file...

    Hkey_CurrentUser_ControlPanel_Desktop_WindowsMetrics

I just Export the entire WindowsMetrics folder...

  3. How do I change the default view for Windows 10 File Explorer search results?

    Robert,

I enabled Attributes, Authors and Auto summary on a search view.

Noted down the Bag ID, exported the ColInfo, Mode and LogicalViewMode to "Allfolders\Shell\{guid}"

    Restarted Explorer.

These three additional columns show up fine when I open the search view in *any* type of folder.

I've uploaded allfolders-test.reg, foldertypes.reg and capture.png to my OneDrive folder, in case you want to experiment further.

    search-views.zip

Contains the registry export of these keys from my system:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\AllFolders

(configured for details view & columns "Attributes", "Authors" and "Auto summary" enabled)

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes

(You may export "FolderTypes" key and compare it with the copy I uploaded to see if there are missing entries. The entire template config is stored there.)
