  1. Extending disk volume uisng unallocated space

    Hi,

I used to have a Linux partition on my computer alongside Windows. I no longer need the Linux partition. For now, I want to recover the 780.75GB unallocated space left on my Disk 0 the hard drive where Windows is NOT installed in. Disk Management shows this:

Extending disk volume uisng unallocated space d0c9e615-4e32-43e9-a3f9-5049d53fb185?upload=true.png

I however am not able to simply extend the D: partition. From what I have gathered, this is because Disk 0 is currently a dynamic disk. The option of converting to basic disk is not available it shows grayed out.

I have read that I should delete all partitions before i can convert to basic disk. However, I cannot seem to be able to delete the 513MB EFI System partition. If possible, I would rather not lose the data on my D: partition 150.25GB, but I wouldn't mind deleting it if it came to it and having a clean HDD with a new D: partition. The only reason I have not deleted D: yet is because I am not sure what to do regarding the EFI System Partition.

How do I go about gaining access to that 780.75GB unallocated space?

    Kind regards,

    Nil

    :)

Looks like you'll need to go dynamic.

Unable to Use Unallocated Space to Extend Partition

Okay...thanks. Will look at it tomorrow. FYI, I figured out how to get that unformatted G partition back into D.

In Disk Management, I right clicked G and selected "Delete Volume." That rendered the partition as unallocated. I was then able to extend D with that space.

Thanks again for all of the help!

Extending disk volume uisng unallocated space

    extend c drive storage space

Hi, I'm , an Independent Advisor.

Disk Management is a Windows built-in tool that supports to increase partition size with its "Extend Volume" feature. However, the program has some limitations in increasing disk space:

    - Extend Volume only works on NTFS and RAW partition. FAT32 and other file systems are not supported.

    - The Extend Volume will grey out if there is no adjacent unallocated space behind the target partition.

So, the ways to increasing C drive with or without adjacent unallocated space are different. Open the Disk Management, and follow the right tutorials listed below to extend the local disk C drive on your own now:

#1. Increase C Drive Space with Adjacent Unallocated Space

Step 1. Right-click This PC/My Computer, click "Manage", select "Disk Management" under Storage.

Step 2. Locate and right-click on the local disk C drive, and choose "Extend Volume".

Step 3. Set and add more space to your system C drive and click "Next" to continue.

Step 4. Click "Finish" to complete the process.

Note that if that unallocated space on your system disk is not behind the C drive, you can't extend C drive in Disk Management.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help you further!
